As promised, here is an update on the hunting tests completed by our two Bloodhounds.
Scotts Bald Eagle Birdie
Our little Birdie – well on her way to becoming a worthy partner for Georgi 🙂 She came to us from the USA in spring 2024 and, in addition to her numerous exhibition successes and the club’s internal hunting test, she has now also mastered the ÖJGV hunting test (consisting of a brackade, gunshot resistance and obedience section) with a great performance 🙂 Used for the first time to brackade on hare/fox, she worked calmly, goal-oriented and persistently. She also showed that she has the decisive and persistent will to succeed. I am particularly proud that Birdie confidently and far away from me and the judging team during the brackade, showed a completely independent work performance, did not need any motivation from my side and yet maintained a good bond with me as the dog handler when running free. For a free-running Bloodhound in an area with lots of rabbits and especially deer tracks, this is a top performance and not something to be taken for granted.
Birdie was rewarded with a great score of 245!
This also applies to Georgi, who is praised a little less below 😉 as we have obviously been working together for a long time and are simply a top team 🙂
Georgi von Bertram Knoll Bloodhound-Berlin
Georgi completed his second part (the Brackade) of the ÖJGV working usage/performance test (GP) with just as much enthusiasm and will to succeed as the first part – the overnight 800 m blood track. We are particularly proud of his performance in the Brackade, as this is definitely not his everyday field of work. But my reliable Georgi (a „rock in the surf“) has once again impressively demonstrated in this situation that he is willing and able to deliver top performance even in unusual fields of work and situations and works brilliantly for us as a team. In the end, he was rewarded with a great total score of 411 and a first prize in the GP!
